Rainbow Seed Fund is delighted to announce the return of our seminar and networking programme. The first event in 2010 will be held from 12-5pm at Tate Modern in London on the 18 May and is a great opportunity to listen to some outstanding speakers and network with entrepreneurs, RSF portfolio companies and your peers. The programme will be followed by our own exclusive guided tour of the Tate Modern.

  • Tom Hulme will discuss how IDEO thinks about business models, and put it in context with an examination of technology companies that we experience in our daily life. Tom, himself a serial entrepreneur and angel investor, is Design Director for IDEO, where he is responsible for the integration of business strategy into the innovation and design process. IDEO is one of the world’s leading design firms.
  • Carl Francis is the CEO of Rainbow portfolio company P2i and will share his approach to the commercialization of a platform technology with many possible applications. Previously, Carl spent three years as CEO acquiring, running, and successfully exiting Adria Ltd, Ireland's largest textile business and was Group Managing Director of The Caudwell Group, Europe's biggest privately owned mobile telecommunications support business with sales of £1.5bn.
  • Stephen Moon will look at some of the challenges businesses may be facing in the current economic environment, including how to look out for the warning signs that your business may be in trouble and what key steps can be taken to turn a business around to maintain long term sustainability. Stephen is a Director of Venturn, the business recovery specialists.
  • Dr Simon Crook will talk about opportunities within the Cleantech sector, including opportunities created by carbon offset projects. Simon has worked in the commercialisation of Clean Technology for the past 6 years. He ran a Cleantech incubator, helped Cleantech business raise funds as a Corporate Finance advisor and is currently the Carbon Technology Manager for an Oil & Gas major company.
  • Douglas Lloyd will focus his talk on clean technologies, renewable energy, security and defense. Douglas is the CEO of Venture Business Research. He is a regular panelist and speaker in Europe and North America in both the CleanTech/Renewable and Security/Defense sectors. Douglas is also a regular contributor to publications including the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Economist.

The Venue
Tate Modern is based in the converted power station on the South Bank of the Thames. The seminars will take place in the East Room on the 7th floor with stunning views across the river to the City and Westminster. With floor to ceiling glass windows presenting unblemished views of the Thames, The East Room is an exceptional space that offers an extraordinary experience.
